Recipe: Black Bean Sauce Noodles

Summary: Somehow Black Bean Sauce Noodle was believed one of the most authentic Chinese food among Koreans. This is a very popular and affordable dish that you can find easily in a Chinese restaurant in Korea.

Ingredients

  • Chopped cabbage 1/2
  • Chopped potato 1/4
  • Chopped onion 1/2
  • Ground pork 1.5 lb
  • Korean black bean sauce (춘장) 1/2 cup
  • Vegetable oil 1/2 cup
  • Sugar 1T
  • Thick Noodles

Instructions

  1. Pour black bean sauce and oil on a heated pan and stir them for 2 minutes
  2. Put the cooked black bean sauce away, add a bit of oil to the pan and cook the rest of meat and vegetable on the pan
  3. When the meat and vegetable are cooked, add the black bean sauce and sugar back to the pan, and mix them well. Cook them for another minute or 2
  4. Boil water in a pot and cook the noodles
  5. Take the cooked noodles out and put them in a bowl, pour the sauce on the top of the noodles and serve

Kimchi Noodle

Kimchi Noodle

Summary: Kimchi noodle is one of my favorite summer dishes. Feel the sweet and sour taste of Kimchi as well as refreshing taste of cucumber.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 Cup of chopped Kimchi
  • 1t sesame oil, 1T sugar (for Kimchi seasoning)
  • 1/4 Cucumber julienned
  • 1/2 boiled egg
  • Thin sliced beef 1/3 lbs
  • 1T soy sauce, 1T sugar, 1t sesame oil (to marinate beef)
  • Thin Korean noodle (So-myeon)

Instructions

  1. Mix 1T soy sauce, 1T of sugar, 1t of sesame oil and thin sliced beef in a bowl. Leave it in the fridge for 15 minutes.
  2. Add 1T of sugar and 1t of sesame oil to chopped Kimchi and mix them well.
  3. Boil water in a pot and cook noodles.
  4. Boil water and cook an egg.
  5. Peel off egg shell and cut it in half.
  6. Take the noodles out from the pot. Rinse them quickly with cold water and drain.
  7. Cook marinated beef on a heated pan.
  8. Put noodles in a bowl. Put beef, kimchi, cucumber and the egg on the top of the noodles nicely
