hi there

I am a Canadian, living in China and one of mine and my boyfriend's favourite restaurant is the Korean BBQ across the street from our apartment. We will be moving home in the summer and I have found the marinate recipes for the bbq meat but I have not found the recipe for the dipping sauce that they serve with it. It is a very thick red sauce that have sesame seeds and I think something like black beans in it. I am wondering if you know what it is. Unfortunately our communication skills are good enough to order but not good enough to get the recipe.

Thank you

The 2nd one should be Ssam-Jang, you can find the recipe here at http://www.korean-food-recipe.com/ssam-jang/

Hi,
i have been in korea before and there are some two sauces i enjoyed and would love to try them out at home, would you mind giving me the recipices.
1st,This sauce is always served with chicken, its sweet and spiced, very red in color and sticky.when you order for sweet and spiced chicken it comes with it,or sometimes comes as aside sauce.
2nd,this sauce is always served with barbecue,it looks spiced but its not spiced at all,its thick too, they eat it with some leaves mixed with meat and some garlic.
I really want to prepare it for my family.thank you

Um.. each restaurant serves their own sauce. I am not quite sure which one your boy friend had, but the most common sauce for Gooey is sesame oil based.
-Sesame oil 2T, Sault 1T, pepper 1t

Or you can try a soy sauce based sauce.
- Sugar 2 T, Minced garlic 1 T, Soy sauce 3T, Sesame oil 1t, ginger juice 1t, wine 1t

Let me know if this is what you're looking for :)
